Marketing

The SBA reports that 70% of small businesses survive two years but 50% of new small businesses survive five years. What is the winning factor that allows some businesses to thrive and others to fail? I believe success is the result of developing a solid marketing strategy coupled with the drive to bring it to fruition.

Marketing is a multi-faceted diamond. Each individual facet brings clarity and light to the marketing mix; together the facets create a brilliant, eye-catching light. That is how marketing works to bring your company and products into view.

Most marketing campaigns contain the following mix:

  • Marketing strategy or planning, advertising, & public relations
  • Web presence, including website and blog
  • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In)
  • Marketing collateral, such as brochures, literature sheets, white papers, etc.
  • Direct mail, newsletters, email campaigns

Small to mid-sized companies may not have enough resources to do an advertising or PR campaign. However developing web presence is easier and more cost effective that ever before and should be your first step in marketing your businesses. Social media tools are free, easily implemented and can be added to any size company’s marketing plan. Once these powerful tools are in place, your company will be noticed and make sales.
